How to deal with potential administration conflicts?

Added by sylvain bougnoux 3 months ago

Hi all,

My administrator often needs to reboot the linux server servicing OP, or maybe to update OP.

What kind of issues could happen if he reboots/updates without warning users? For instance what will happen if someone is editing a WP, and the reboot/update happens before saving?

Is there a way, the administrator could know someone is editing or creating a potential issue, before he reboots/updates?

Can he uses the message tools? Will users (editors) will see it without refreshing?

Can someone explain the right way of administrating OP?

Thanks

As a partial answer: Have a look at the announcements feature: https://docs.openproject.org/system-admin-guide/announcement

This is meant for down time announcements.
